Vikings are doing this deal as they feel there is the opportunity for value late in the 1st round and are cognizant of the fact that firsts tend to go for sky high prices. The 1st gives some flexibility in being able to gauge the Draft and decide on the value of the first at any point in the Draft in order to maximize value. The 5th round is nice as it could be used on a deep sleeper or late round trade bait.

I was looking for a wr in the draft. I trade pick 26 for Mooney and I would be happy to get a player like that at 26. I still have the 10th overall pick in the first as well. I also jump up to the fourth from the fifth.
