Cleveland agrees i move two players that dont fit my rebuild for some great young specs

I accept being a Real Life Blue Jays Fan I really like the idea of getting Merryweather and Sierra is another OF which I need. my specs I’m trading are to far away. Cleveland is in rebuild mode I’m trying to be way better than finishing 5th in the AL I want at least a Wildcard

This is a another misguided trade. It’s good to have goals like making the playoffs, but Merryweather and Sierra are a far cry from being key players to make that happen. Merryweather is a RP who is not projected to be in high leverage situations, and although some think he may be a SP in the future, he is not a much sought after pitching prospect. Sierra is an underachieving bench player.
With that, I disagree that the prospects Toronto is giving up are far away from the majors. Herrera and Jimenez are projected to reach the majors by 2022. Lara is a bit away, 2024, but he is also a highly regarded prospect for the Nationals. All three prospects are top 5 prospects in their organizations.
I just don’t see trading away, what the Indians GM characterizes as 3 great prospects for a RP and a bench player. With the amount of cap available to the Jays, players of higher value can be secured through free agency.

I agree with Flash especially about Herrera. Catchers are too hard to come by in this league, cant trade them away for a backup outfielder.
