Title: News Flash: 2021 Season Update
Post by: Flash on October 05, 2020, 03:57:21 AM
GMs,

I have completed the 2021 updates for FGM.  Here is the information that you need to know as we enter the off-season.

--Players released will now have salary cap obligations go to 90%/60%/30%.  These percentages will remain in effect until after the MLB Trade Deadline.  When MLB announces that date, I will post it for all to see.

--The league excel sheet has been rolled over.  All your ProFSL rosters reflect all the players you have under contract for the 2021 season (with the exception of those teams who still have (P-2020)s that have not been extended).  I have dropped those (P-2020)s and will add them to your Fantrax and ProFSL rosters when they are extended.  I left the list on the Transactions Page as a point of reference. For those of you who still have (P-2020)s, you must use the 2020 Extension Values, which you can find at this link:  http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=371965.0

--I have posted the 2022 salary caps on your ProFSL rosters.

--The 2021 Extension Contract Scale has been updated and posted in the Contracts section of our rules.  You can access the 2021 Extension Contract Values by clicking on Contracts at the top of the FGM pages.  Please remember that (P-2021) players should not be extended until the 2021 season begins if you want to take advantage of their last year of the their prospect contract.  Prospects contracts that are extended during the off-season will have the extensions take effect immediately, which is why you should wait until Opening Day or during the season to initiate an extension.  Please PM me if you want this further clarified..

--All teams can engage in trades from now until the MLB Trade Deadline.

--I have unlocked the Draft Room for those GMs with early picks who want to get a jump on things.  FYPD will formally begin on Sunday, November 1st at 9:00 am ET.  Remember, the 60 day moratorium begins for all FYPD draftees on the date they are drafted.  I recommend that all of you go through your MiLB rosters to see if the players you have are still "worth keeping" or need to be dropped to make room for new players.  Remember that in 2020, MLB had an abbreviated draft of only 5 rounds.  All 160 players who were drafted have signed by their respective MLB teams and I tried to go through the list to take out players who have not signed an MLB contract.  This was a tedious process, and the fall back for all of you is to check if the player you are interested in drafting is listed as a player of a given MLB team on Fantrax.  Any drafted player must be signed to an MLB contract or they cannot be drafted.  You must have open spots on your MiLB roster or indicated that you want your draftees added to your MLB rosters in order to participate in the FYPD.  Participation is not mandatory and you do not have to utilize all your draft picks.

--This year it looks like we only have one Type A Free Agent. If you believe I have not included someone that was on your team, please PM me.  Remember, that a Type A Free Agent must have been on your roster the entire season and cannot be someone you acquired in a trade during the season.  Since our season was abbreviated this year, this shouldn't really affect anyone.

--Free agency will start with CIs in January, 2021.  I will post a full schedule at a later date, but you can reference it on the FGM Home Page under Important Dates if you're interested.

--Finally, I am still in the process of updating all team histories.  I have fully completed some, and will continue to work on others in the coming weeks and months, depending on my research of the site for former owners/GMs.  Hopefully, you will all find the team histories entertaining.

Any questions?  Send me a PM or post a reply. :toth:
