Title: Athletics/Cardinals
Post by: Paul S. on October 18, 2011, 10:55:23 AM

Athletics trade:
RP Holland, Greg, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Cardinals trade:
MI Pastornicky, Tyler, $0.5m (P-n/a), signed 7/28/11

The Cardinals make this trade to acquire a good young inexpensive reliever to fill a hole left with Jim Johnson and Kyle McClellan leaving in free agency.  Pastornicky was one of our favorites but we have plenty of depth at MI.  A's to confirm.  Thanks Rob!

Confirmed.

A's acquire more MI depth.  Pastronicky is most likely going to be the starting SS in ATL at least til Simmons arrives.  Then he will be utility guy.  Holland is a great arm, but I feel I can find a comparable FA to fill void this year.

Paul thank you for the easy negotiations.

Funny that you guys outbid one another for Tyler's services last year
