Title: Trade: Astros/Reds
Post by: Brent on January 25, 2019, 08:09:10 PM
The Astros and Reds agree on the following trade.  The Astros do this trade as they try and turn 6 players into 25+.  I did not plan to keep Ramirez due to his contract, but had to in order to spend the required amount of cap.  Ramirez will now get me a 3B I really like and can build around with Anderson and a few specs.  The draft picks will help me build the farm as most teams are on autopick or getting skipped anyway.  Thanks for the negotiations Brian.  I know you like getting a RL Cleveland player on your team.

Brian Anderson
Jesus Sanchez
JD Davis
Cal Quantrill
Remaining Draft Picks Rds 5 - 15

for

Jose Ramirez $25,504,000 (2020)
$25,504,000 paid in 2019 by Houston

Reds to confirm.

Cinci agrees to trade. I love this trade. I get my favorite player on the Indians. I get a player that will cost me nothing and I deal a big need at 3b for next 2 yrs+

It was under the assumption Brent had to keep a baseline of guys.  The agreement was not for him to trade anyone he kept.

Nowhere was it stated that I could not trade players.

He can trade players. U can't handcuff someone plus penalize some one at the same time. At the time he had to keep a certain % for keepers and he did that. He already lost 90% of his mlb and lost 99% of his minors. He should be able to trad3 what he wants. The free agency class is pretty week and overall there is no way he can even think of spending his entire payroll.

I don't know what was agreed upon beforehand but if the trade is eligible then my vote is....

Bit of a steep price to pay for an expensive player in Ramirez but considering this years salary is covered entirely the trade makes sense  :iatp:
