Unfortunately, this contract request is invalid.  We use the following scale:

<= $1m, 2 years
$1.5m - $5m, 3 years
$5.5m - $10m, 4 years
> $10m, 5 years (the overall limit)

With a winning bid of $8.0m you could increase the total to $9.0m and give this player a $3.0m (2021) contract.  Or you could give him a two year deal of $4.0m (2020).

Which do you prefer?
