Cubbies send to Yanks:
X Hunter, Torii, LAA paying $10m in 2010, $-10m in 2010
OF Hunter, Torii, $18m (2011)
OF Robnett, Rich, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Yanks send to Cubs:
C Molina, Jose, $1m (2010)
P Rzepczynski, Marc, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Gardner, Brett, $0.5m (P-2012)
P Norris, Bud, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Upon this deal, Cubs drop:
CI Barker, Kevin, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Ascanio, Jose, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Bazardo, Yorman, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Oramas, Juan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
The reasoning for this should be clear. With the Brewers stacked, and the Reds and Pirates all of a sudden breathing fire, I can't see my team competing this year. Torii Hunter will definitely produce, and I am selling him (with the cash from the Angels) to build a better core.

I approve of this deal. A lot of people were trying to grab that Polish guy off of my team. This was one of the better deals. I give up some other young guys, but they didn't have much of a shot to really contribute to the Yankees winning tradition. Torii Hunter, at $8m in 2010, and $18m in 2011 is a New York type of contract, and I welcome him as we look to repeat!

:iatp: Makes sense for both

:bump: for Dan... this deal, as approved, should put me at 41 - 2 + 4 - 4 = 39 players
