Avs have $4.9m in 2017-18 cap space.
The 10% offseason overage cannot be used for buyouts, so a 1yr BO at $15.1m can't be done.
Even a standard buyout is not possible at $5.0m (2017-2020) unless you can find $0.1m somewhere without starting a new transaction or wait until the new season to buy out Mason.
What do your Avs want to do?

Point taken for 10% overage on Buyout. I didn’t read it in the rules but that makes all the sense in the world.
I’m under the cap and he’s on the books at 7.6m. So I think a standard buyout at $5.0m per season for the contract should be fine.
Steve Mason, $7.6m (2016-2020)
Steve Mason, $5.0m (2017-2020)
Thank You Sir!

Your Avs need to find 0.1m to complete the buyout of Steve Mason.
I double checked your team's roster salaries and total cap and couldn't find the 0.1m. Maybe you'll have better luck. Scratch that.
