Title: New League on the MLFB (3 spots left!)(Draft this Sunday!)
Post by: lp815 on March 01, 2010, 11:15:18 PM
Hey guys, Jake here, wanting to introduce everyone to the new Douglas Keeper that went live this month and is looking for 3 new members.

Highlight of the league include:

-Roto style play, 6x6 basic scoring

-5 keepers selected each year, making the offseason player pool heavy with talented players

-A 3 player prospect roster, with new prospects being drafted each off season.  Every team has top 50 prospects!

-Rules advantageous to allow the worst team one year become the best team the next, it's practically impossible to have consistent top winners and losers

-If inaugural season is a success, will consider transitioning to a money league, with the top 5 spots paying out! ($20-$50 entry fee estimated, upon league's approval)

If you are interested in joining up, read all the rules here:

Not trying to steal the thunder from Jake's gig, but there is another league forming.  This one is a simple franchise league without contracts.  There are 12 openings right now out of 16 total teams...

Quote
Based on some ideas provided in the Think Tank, I think there is a good structure set up for this league.  The basis is that it mimics the old school days of baseball when there was the reserve clause and no free agency.  Players that were cut from teams could be given some offers with relative bidding between GMs, but for the most part, the best players stuck with their teams for their career.  This would be a simple franchise league with moves done at the league page except for a period in the off-season.

NATIONAL LEAGUE
New York Giants :SF:
Philadelphia Phillies :PHI:
St. Louis Cardinals :STL: - nerwffej
Cincinnati Reds :CIN: - BHows
Chicago Cubs :CHC:
Boston Braves :ATL:
Brooklyn Dodgers  :LAD:
Pittsburgh Pirates :PIT: - Colby

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Chicago White Sox :CHW:
Boston Red Sox :BOS:
Cleveland Indians :CLE:
Detroit Tigers :DET:
Washington Senators :WAS:
New York Yankees :NYY: - sportsdoc55
St. Louis Browns :BAL:
Philadelphia Athletics :OAK:

16 teams with 40-man rosters... positions are C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP.

There isn't much of a bullpen, and a 6-man rotation is offered.  Extra emphasis will be placed on certain stats.  The above franchises will take over the real-life rosters of today (as of a date, oh say March 15th)... and then the teams can bid on the remaining players via FAAB at the league site.

No contracts, no salaries, no keeper restrictions at all.  In-season FAAB is $50 and off-season FAAB is $100.  There is no rollover of budgets between seasons.  Use it or lose it.
