Title: Oilers/Devils Trade

Derrick Pouliot, $0.6m (2016-2018)

for:

Henrik Zetterberg, $6.1m (2010-2018)




Oilers do this trade to move a player we weren't extending in Hank. I get back Pouliot, who is pretty bad, but he fits in the mold of what we wanted: a cheap depth D man. Hoping the new scenery at least gets him in the lineup until all our prospect D starting making noise. Depth D in our FA is a hard game to play, and generally more expensive than worth. Sad part for the division winning Oilers is that Pouliot will actually slot into spot #5 on our D for the time being. GL to the new Devils management team.

Another cap driven trade. I will give the edge to Edmonton for creating a fair amount of cap space for future moves. All subjective how an owner uses their cap and/or new player.
