Title: Nationals - Cubs Trade 1/22/18 10:10 pm ET
Post by: jpmanchester on January 22, 2018, 09:02:40 PM

Nationals trade:
OF Heyward, Jason, $3m (2019)

Cubs trade:
OF Fernandez, Vince, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Wade, LaMonte, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Richard, Clayton, $0.5m (2018)

Cubs accept. I'm not sure what Heyward's got left in the tank, but the contract is manageable so I'll take a shot on a little bounce back. Hopefully he'll be a useful 4th or 5th OF. Fernandez and Wade both look like they're starting to put things together but I've got a lot of OF specs and Richard was a nice story last year but I also have lots of SP depth. So I think this will help both of us. Thanks for the easy negotiation!

Washington approves, this trade get us another reliable arm for the rotation, and 2 young OFs I'm thinking that will turn into nice production in a couple years. It also clears some cap for FA. Thanks Cubbies for the smooth deal!
