Title: Nats - Phillies Trade 1-2-18 10:08 pm ET
Post by: papps on January 02, 2018, 09:56:02 PM

Philly gets
OF Mazara, Nomar, $0.5m (P-2019)

Nats get
OF Williams, Nick, $0.5m (P-2020)
SP Eickhoff, Jerad, $0.5m (P-2018)
RP Ramos, AJ, $2.5m (2019)

Philly does this deal as we believe Mazara has a higher ceiling than Williams.  They both put up comparable stats last year but I do believe Mazara will be the better player in the long run.  Losing Eickhoff really hurts my rotation but I'm betting on Mazara being worth it.

Nats confirm. This helps me deepen my rotation with a good arm. I get to replace Nomar with a younger outfielder that I feel has the potential to surpass Nomar in a couple years. And a solid RP to sure up my bullpen. I really like the opportunity this trade gives. Thanks Phils for the smooth transaction!
