The Mets parted with several assets for the rights to the Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka. A manageable contract along with his increased strikeout total and excellence in the playoffs last year make this a worthwhile deal.
Mets:
Masahiro Tanaka ($15m 2018)
Brewers:
Curtis Taylor (spec)
Nabil Crismatt (spec)
2nd and 3rd round picks 2018 Draft
Picks round 11-20 (27) 2017 Draft
$2,783,800 in international bonus money 2018

Milwaukee acquires more down the road help between this yrs picks, next yrs picks, the money and two upside specs - this improves my club (eventually).

Interesting trade.

Wow...Mets paying a ton for a year of Tanaka! It benefits ATL’s future so I approve!

I only paid half a ton and my international house of bonus money plus I can extend him.

You know I have to talk trash...plus you’re in my division :toast:
12 draft picks, two specs, possibly a hand full of intl specs (and a partrage in a pear tree)...for a chance to extend Tanaka at a minimum of 15M?!?! May the force be with you :)

That's cool and nice XMAS reference. Ten picks were for a third rounder though and I won't owe any dough if Tanaka doesn't throw.
