Astros Trade
$2.1m in 2018 international money

Astros looking to push that money a little farther out to make room to add prospects to my system.  Thanks to Brewers.

ATL approves.

Let me ask, is there a max of intl budget a team can obtain? I know there is in mlb to ensure integrity and opportunity.

The rules for international signings have evolved quite in MLB over the years.  There are rules that allow teams to exceed their pools and new rules about how much a team can acquire.  We've stuck with simplified rules from 2016 as we thought it was better for the league.  You'll notice that the new rules have allotments that are much different from ours, they do theirs by market size not by team record where the biggest markets get $4.75m and the smallest market gets $5.75m.  The market aspect doesn't apply to us since we have a hard cap for all teams, not dependent on revenue generated.  We felt keeping the pool levels where they were gave bad teams a better chance to acquire talent.
