:LAA: trades
Picks in rounds 11-20 in 2017 draft
Remaining 2017 Intl funds ($607,100)
:MIL: trades
Josh Harrison [(arb thru 2019) 7.5M for 2018 and 10M in 2019]
-
Angels approve.
At first glance this doesn’t look like much for Harrison but the key is the money. With Harrison’s contract extension with the pirates we already know he will cost 7.5M and 10M in the last 2 years of arbitration control which makes him a borderline non tender candidate for 2019 (10M) depending on how he does this year (7.5M)
We discussed sending prospects or MLB players in return for some salary relief but in the end I’d rather pay the high salaries and part with less to get him.
Thanks to Don for good negotiations :toast:

I agree to the trade. Basically, I need the picks and money to help rebuild a minor league system that had been woefully neglected. If one pick or one signing pay off then it's a push, two and I come out ahead.
thanks

Dipoto like trade. Focused on building the mlb team but sells the future. MLB allows it..I guess we should too!
ATL approves.
Brewers - D (massive over payment for a player without a real role on his current team. Plus the contract isn’t friendly to the cap)
Angels - A+ (robbery...pure robbery. Keep on hustling!)

No critique of the trade exactly but my advice for the Brewers is to have a clear long term strategy and be patient with it. You've acquired Cron and Gurriel but then trade Gennett and Harrison so from the outside it looks a little disjointed though I can see wanting to sell high on Gennett with a nice return. Though you save money on overpaid Harrison, you could have received more talent back. Middle infielders, even expensive average performers, are hard to come by and so are starting MLB players in general.
My advice to the Angels is to give up. Do you really think silly Josh Harrison trades are going to help you? The Astros are building a dynasty and there is no escape from the can of orange whoopass we're about to open up. Save yourself, move to the National League. :o

Hmmm...I guess I should have used becoming commish as a lame excuse to change leagues huh? Yeah I remember that...
Besides, I’m pretty sure 3 of your 4 losses last year came at the hands of the Angels so bring it on. :)

Josh Harrison's appeal to not join the Angels is rejected. Sorry, Josh.
