Phillies trade:
SP DeSclafani, Anthony, $6m (2019)
X-SP DeSclafani, Anthony, Cash Exchange, $6.0m in 2017
OF Ethier, Andre, $5.5m (2019)
X-OF Ethier, Andre, Cash Exchange, $5.5m in 2017
Nationals trade:
SP Lively, Ben, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Chalmers, Dakota, $0.5m (P-n/a)
I do this to clear out some cap space next year. I like DeSclafani but his contract isn't worth his production. Ethier is probably a bench bat at best at this stage of his career. I get a couple pitchers that may or may not do anything but I'm happy with the cash savings the next two years. Thanks Flash for the negotiations!
NOTE: In anticipation of this trade's imminent approval, the respective ProFSL rosters of each team have been updated to reflect the changes for both teams. All that has to be done is to Fantrax the trade following the games on 8/6/17.

Even though DeSclafani is suffering through an injury riddled 2017 campaign, he's young enough to take a chance on. One of the Nationals glaring weaknesses is a lack of pitching, and if DeSclafani can get back to form in 2018, he will fulfill a definite need. With the Cash Exchange, he will essentially be on a two year deal, which makes the cap spent a risk worth taking.
Andre Ethier is a ghost of his former self and he will get a Contract Buyout once the deal is approved.
