Round 1 - 2017  (from :LAK:*)
Round 2 - 2017  (from :PHI-NHL:*)

To Panthers
Sami Vatanen, $4.4m (2015-2018)

We were shopping for defense. Anaheim was looking for picks and prospects. Florida will need to keep up with Boston, Montreal, Tampa, hell everyone in the Atlantic Division. Ducks to confirm.

The Ducks confirm this trade.

The Ducks had told a few other owners that they would want a D-man back if we were trading a D-man, however when the Cats came calling with this trade we couldn't pass up another 1st along with another 2nd. These 2 picks along with our numerous other picks in the first 2 rounds the Ducks are looking to rebuild. 

I know we gave up a great D-man in Vatanen but by trading him we save quite a bit of salary for FA along with saving money to resign some of our other players we still have going forward.

Sadly Detroit lost out on the Vatanen sweepstakes but this is a great deal for Anaheim. Florida is giving up two high picks, which may seem steep, but they are getting a known asset instead of a roll of the dice prospect.

In a few years my whole active roster could come from most of the prospects from this year's draft so that is what I am hoping for as to when PPG says things are taking shape in Anaheim. The Ducks have 10 picks of the first 52 picks.

I like that the Ducks have a plan that is outside of the box. I love the diversity of this league. The newer GMs have really put a stamp on what it is they want and how they plan to achieve set Goals.
