Title: Rockies would like to announce some extensions
Post by: fantasyguru on August 24, 2011, 01:54:18 PM
1. Jay Bruce #21 OF = 12m... Bruce is on P contract so 12m x .6 = $7.2m for 5 years
2. Clay Buccholz # 123 ranked SP...is on P contract so he can be 4m/5yrs
3. Nick Blackburn #90 ranked SP = $2m/2yrs

Reid,

Bruce looks right, will round to $7m per year.

You can't sign Buccholz for five years, I believe you can only sign him for 3.  A contract of $4m has a max term on it.  Please let us know what you would like to do on Buccholtz.

I told Reid Bucholz had to be 5yrs, I thought all P extensions had to be 5yrs.... see below

Prospect Extension (went into effect after 2010 season)
Any player who is currently under a prospect contract may be signed to a regular contract extension (see below), but they may also be signed to a prospect extension.  Such an extension must be a 5-year deal where the annual salary is X% of their market value.  The resulting annual salary must be no less than $4m.  No matter what the current prospect contract is, the prospect extension kicks in the following year at the rate based on when the contract is given.

Whichever it is, 3 or 5 yrs, I would like to sign Buchholz to that.

Corey, you are right, I did not notice that it was a prospect extension, since there was no discount multiplier.  5 years.

What were each players rankings in 2010? New contracts are based on the best year of the previous 2 years.
