MI Barmes, Clint, $5m (2011) - I believe that this save me $1m....or $1.5? Let me know.
SP Cook, Aaron, $10m (2011) - Save $1.5m this year

If you drop someone with a $0.5m (2011) contract does that $0.5m come off for this year?

No.  Only 0.5m (P-n/a) contracts don't count against the cap.
