PPG ADDS TRADE ICON
I prefer not to jump the queue so I'll leave this trade here and the Commissioners can process once the Freeze period draws to an end.
Submitted for review to the Trade Committee is a deal between Calgary and Buffalo:
To Calgary Flames:
Evgeny Kuznetsov, $7.1m (2016-2020)
Keith Kinkaid, $3.3m (2014-2017)
FOR
To Buffalo Sabres:
Henrik Sedin, $5.5m (2013-2017)
Alex Goligoski, $5.5m (2014-2018)
C - Jonathan Dahlen (2016: 2/42 - 0 Games)
D - Duncan Siemens (2011: 1/11 - 1 Games)
G - Dylan Wells (2016: 5/123 - 0 Games)
The salary involved is similar. Calgary looks to gets younger and add a goalie that has a good skillset. Kuznetsov is our type of player to build the franchise around. Sedin (nearing retirement), Goligoski (older defender on a weaker team) and the 3 youngsters were not that steep of a price (Wells was the darkhorse we wanted to keep but we are getting a goalie in return).
Thanks for the Holiday trade negotiations BurkesBoys.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::iatp: Buffalo confirms.
I don't think there's a problem posting this officially.
Getting Henrik Sedin gives us the option of letting him walk to FA to save 5.5m in cap space or resigning him at a similar cap hit if he performs well and remains in NA next yr. We're letting Kinkaid go in the deal because we already have Millertime and Scott Darling. As for Goligoski, he's overpriced right now but is worth it medium-long term. The key players coming back in the deal are specs Dahlen and Wells. We're still looking to make some other deals for the playoff push.
Thx DTox! :thumbsup::toast:

:iatp: Good work gents. Good move for the Flames IMO.

:iatp: Great to see new owners building their franchises the way they want. EK is a good choice to build around.

Win to Calgary for acquiring quality and the best player in this trade with Kuznetsov. Buffalo adds a healthy package of prospects however I do not believe their is much of a ceiling on Siemens nor Wells, while Henrik Sedin is clearly past his prime and nearing retirement.

That is the distilled assessment in my mind. However, if Kuznetsov fails to produce, his contract does become the elephant on the roster that I will have to work around. However given his young age there is hope that any poor showing can be corrected at a not to distant time within a given season.

I prefer the out-clause with Henrik Sedin meaning his contract is set to expire and his 5.5m comes off the book free and clear if he retires, returns to Sweden or jumps to play in Europe next season. At teh same time he can be reupped at the same rate if he continues to show an increase in output. Either way Sedin will help our club next yr whether he's signed or gone. :thumbsup::thumbsup: As for the specs, well they are speculative in nature based on some observation DD. I say Duncan will find his place soon enough. :thumbsup:
