Title: Calgary Flames Future Outlook
Post by: DToxFan on December 25, 2016, 07:29:24 PM
In Calgary the building of a champion will be an interesting road. The roster is a polarized mix of veterans and youth. I have looked at the direction of the previous administration and though I understand what they were trying to accomplish, I feel the strategy and execution would've taken longer than my plan for the franchise.

The Flames were going with a bandaid fix n goal until we landed a true starter. Last yr we collected all the Leafs goalies but this yr they got blown up and landed in different cities so that plan got killed early. Up front I was going for the mix of vets and newbies. It was a work in progress for sure.

So far I like what Dtox has been doing with his moves. :iatp:

I can almost see what his end goal is aside from contending for the FNHL Championship. :winner:

Going with a Toronto-Maple-Leafs-goalie-ONLY strategy is always hmmmmmmmm dumb. LOL  :o :taco: :disco::afro:

The Toronto Maple Leafs strategic plan is best left for the Toronto Maple Leafs alone. It is derived from the Harold Ballard School of Sports Management.

And Thanks to PsychoticPondGoons for revising the name of our Calgary farm team to the Texas Bears.

Traditionally in fantasy the strategy a manager employs needs to take the scoring system of the league into account.

In this league, I have to consider that there are no penalties or negative points scored for Goalie loses, Hits are rewarded, PIM are penalized but Fights are rewarded. The scoring system here is basic yet quite different from leagues I've participated in over the many years I've been walking the planet.

I do prefer talent and skill over the plumbers. Brawn is good but in limited quantities for this manager.

Well seeing how other managers have tracked their moves I figure it is a convenient way to map my road to success a few months from now and where it all started.

Nice job dtox! This is my second season here at GNHL and i believe in building a team to your vision, not the previous owner. That's not to discredit the hockey knowledge of the previous owner in any way. Some people like Dunkin Doughnuts some people like Tim Hortons. I watch a lot of different levels of hockey, on TV, in person, on the interwebs. You go after what you like, build on my friend
