This trade reflects two teams going in different dirrctions. Florida is at the top of the table while CBJ is.....well not even on the table.

We dont have to do anything as the No.1 team, but this trade to add a premier defender intrigued me.
Really wasnt our goal to trade 2 young guns who will be automatically protected thru the Expansion Draft and have only scratched the surface of their talent potential, but the addition of Stephens made this deal worth it.
Enjoy your new Ex-Blackhawks Blk! Dano is going to be better then Teuvo and Im sure you'll find a gem with that late 1st rd pk. :toast:

I almost rejected this trade because there's a huge age difference betw the kids Im mailing to Columbus and the wily veteran looking for a new [retirement] home in Florida.
Needless to say, we are going for the win with this deal. :win:
PS I'm gonna miss that $4m in cap space.

The trade Win goes to Columbus for acquiring two high-potential young scorers plus a First Round Draft Pick in addition to clearing close to $4 Million in cap space. Shea Weber is an excellent acquisition but given his aggressive style of play and advanced aged he is a potential IR risk however has proven he can remain healthy throughout his career.
