Title: waiver question
Post by: OUDAN on August 08, 2011, 04:31:37 PM
i know that we cant trade guys who we have signed until after 60 days, but i didnt see it posted anywhere or anything that we couldnt waiver them. the team that claimed them would just have to take them on or if no one claims them then they can just be released im pretty sure this is allowed in the MLB. help me out here guys

I look at waivers as another trade mechanism. You are free to drop him but you should not be alowed to waive then trade him.

no the point of waiving him would be giving someone else the ability to take him on for free, seems as though everyone talks about wanting to make this league like the MLB and it is legal to waiver ANYONE there

This opens up a very interesting point.
In MLB, waiver is allowed throughout the entire year where a team can put a player on waiver in hopes of other teams picking up the player's contract.

In FGM however, we currently do no have a waiver system prior to the non-waiver trading deadline. If the current FGM rules are such that waiver is not meant as a way to drop players, then your transaction should not be allowed. Otherwise, I am ok with it as long as no compensations are exchanged.

I look at it this way, you are still trading the guy, just trading him for nothing... I think waivers should follow the same time span limitations as trades since in effect that is what they lead to.
