Carlos Gomez' highest rank is #91 in 2015, which equals a salary of $1.5m.  Under the current rules, Gomez is subject to the 70% rule, which limits an extension to 2 years.  70% of $2.5m is $1.75m, but since we use increments of $0.5m, the contract would be $2.0m for two years.  However, since you agree to pay more than his market value, he will be extended for three years at his current contract level of $2.5m.

Kole Calhoun's 60% Prospect Contract carries a minimum amount of $4.0m for five years.  You cannot sign him for $3.5m (2021) because it does not meet the requirement of the 60% rule.
