CI/MI Lawrie, Brett, $4m (2017)
CI Smith, Dominic, $0.5m (P-n/a)
C Mejia, Francisco, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Dodgers get
CI Reed, AJ, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Musgrove, Joe, $0.5m (P-n/a)
White Sox do this to get a guy I still believe in in Lawrie, who may now stay at MI long term. Smith started showing some pop towards the end of the year so he becomes my CI of the future, and Mejia is a project but scouts love the bat. Hate giving up Reed who might be the best power bat in the minors, but I currently have the depth at the MLB level to let Smith marinate for a bit, and I feel this trade makes my team deeper. I also fully believe that Tyler White is going to be a very good MLB hitter as soon as next season. Thanks Rick for the talks.

Dodgers confirm.
Sort of a "homer" deal but I do prefer Reed over Smith both in power and OBP. The more I read about Musgrave, the more I like him.
I traded for Lawrie ith the thought that he would at least qualify at CI but Oakland's recent acquisition of Jed Lowrie leaves some doubt. I never like to trade a C prospect but hopefully I 'm covered at that position with Alfaro for a while.
