The cardinals make this deal because I don't believe that Adrian Beltre will be worth 10 million this season let alone 2 years from now. Getting anything of value for him as well as saving myself 6 Million this season is well worth it for me. I also really like what Diekman did after the trade to Texas. Seems like he will be a valuable part of the pen there.

I'm trying to win now so I gamble that Beltre has something left in the tank. He is an upgrade over Mark Reynolds who I had the last couple years. If he can score 10ppg I would be happy.

There is no way this trade should even be considered. A CI who scored 2300+ points for a RP who scored 573 in 2015? Come on---really? A RP can easily be gained during free agency, a CI like Beltre cannot.
The Phillies would be happy if he scored 10 ppg? He scored 16.23 ppg last season and played in 143 games. Diekman appeared in 67 games and scored 8.55 ppg.
