Buy-out #2 Discounted to $2.1m and re-signed at exceeding value for 100% capture. http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=233500.0
Voynov has advised FNHL he does not wish to be contacted by Colorado. He finds the owner rather annoying.

Good way to force rule changes :puke:

No, I tried to do that with conversation. We voted on the matter, so I consider it settled. New information out on Voynov led me to want to alter his contract. This was not frivolous.

Needs to be a rule preventing a GM from buying the same guy out over and over and over and over and over again.

Well, if we vote over and over and over again, maybe we'll get one.

As much as I hate thr multi buyout option for the same player it does allow
a) owners to correct a bad contract
b) all teams have a chance to bid on the released player so free market dictacts th value of the new contract.
-
Moving this discussion to a dedicated thread gents!
Worth chewing on this some more.
-
I thought we had this discussion before. Either way, I don't see the issue with it. It is another way for a team to manage their cap. I would of did the same thing to Justin Peters last year, but Calgary made a bid and I said farewell to the cap hit.

Noticed that.
A few other teams did that before the Playoffs last yr.
Voynov got picked up by the Wild the 2nd time Slack dumped him.
Sometimes contracts need to be adjusted in fantasy.
Once a guy is dumped into the FA pool it's a free for all and the market dictates contract value.
If anything, I will say that the league/commissioners can impose restrictions if we feel a rule is being seriously molested and abused.
-
I hate this discussion almost as much as I hate the buyout loophole.
I like the idea of allowing tools or options to reduce the impact of a bad contract, but to completely negate a contract I am not much of a fan.
I would much rather see an option to retain some cap in a trade vs. the buyout loophole/credit.
I actually think the buyout loophole is stiffling trades in the league. 99% of the time I buy out the player and rebid them rather than look for a way to move them. If I am on the other side, why would I ever make a trade for a player that is playing even marginally below his contract value.
The buyout/credit loophole is also creating more work for the admins.
The buyout/credit loophole is also creating artifically high contracts. ie. Sergey Tolchinksy ( no way he goes that high if the GM knows he has to come good for the contract)
Its un-realistic unless this is an NFL pool..
For a 30 team advanced NHL league its a huge cop out.
If its there I will use it, but if it goes away I am not going to miss it.
All that said, I get the reasoning behind keeping it until the league fully matures with 30 dedicated owners.
-
Fair warning.
I make a lot of moves. A lot of PM's, a lot of comments, a lot of trades, a lot of picks, and a lot of drops. I imagine I will be at the top of the list for using the buy-out discount as well. If someone arbitrarily tells me I can't use this rule after I campaigned hard to get rid of it I, will quit.
-
Personally I think slack just does it so ppg has some extra work to do

Do you promise???
If someone repeatedly abuses a rule, I might just make a special rule for them. ie. Any team with a theme related to MASSIVE AMTS OF SNOW is prohibited from buying out the same player in a given season more than x2. PPG how does that sound. :koolaid:
Just because your wife has an ahole doesnt mean you use it every chance you get or do you Slack?

Mj thriller. Google is great.

Well, I would disagree with that. I view it as a luxury tax for a future player. By the time he reaches the league, he could be a minimum salary player and a huge value. I'd get that argument for a competitive team, but not so much for a team a few years away. Maybe the argument you were aiming for has to do with drafting players with no experience? Same can be said about guys like Panarin/ Plotnikov/ Medvedev? All highly overpaid FA acquisitions.
I like the buyout rule, but I think it should be a one time deal.
-

Let me be clear, I find this to be in very poor taste. It is offensive, mean-spirited, and disrespectful, and it crosses a line for me. If it was an attempt at humour, it was at my expense, and at my wife's.
There is a standard for conduct here that, like all rules, must be applied equally. I have contacted PR directly about this comment only to be met with contempt. I expect more from this league, and would like an appology.

You do realize you've been baiting the commissioner with your multiple BOs and resignings right?
I would say put it in reverse and back out slowly.
You've taken a wrong turn.

I'm sorry you see it that way. I used a rule as it is spelled out, and did so prior to any talk of abuse. You should be alarmed that this is more of a personality contest than pro hockey league. Decisions should not be made on a case by case basis depending on weather you like a person or not.
Keep in mind that I bought out and Alexander Semin 3 times in a row last year without protest or warning. We all have a right to understand how things are going to work. The reaction to all this is entirely random.
In any event, league owners should have more class than insulting GM's and their wives because they think they are challenging to deal with.

Wow.
You're acting like the pot calling out the kettle.
Just saying.

Yes and no. I was only using him as a recent example,, I think you would see that as more of a 2 year contract instead of 3 years without the buyout rules. I look at it and we already save 33.3% on a contract on buyouts. do we really need the discount on top of it. The discount does allow for do overs but in a competitive league I dont like do overs.

I would agree with this, and think it's an easy rule edit. But let's not penalize teams retro-actively for rules made up on the fly!

I don't know about you gents but any site I've been a member of has a rule about taking PMs and posting it publicly.
SlackJack.
Again you surprise me with your disregard for others by what you do and say man.
How many soapboxes do you want to stand on???

SLACKJACK!
Your team has been penalized for stirring sh!t needlessly, repeatedly and then b!tch!ng all over the place about it.
1 team abused a rule several times.
1 team is acting like a cancer being negative.
1 owner wants things his way, can't get it and is kicking and screaming now.
GO COLORADO GO! :taco: :taco: :taco:
Odd how you keep complaining about the conduct of others!?
Do you honestly think 10$ buys you the freedom to sh!t on people?
Pony up if you want to live that lifestyle.
You have to cough up at least 100$ for a trick. LOL
-
Why so much hostility? Just tweak the rule already.
