Boston sends
OF Markakis, Nick, $11m (2014)
SP Young, Chris, $3.5m (2011)
X-OF Markakis, Nick, Cash Exchange on Contract through 2014, $-4m in 2011
New York Mets trade
OF Hicks, Aaron, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Murphy, Daniel, $0.5m (P-2012)
MI Sano, Miguel Jean, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Simpson, Hayden, $0.5m (P-n/a)
I make deal I get couple solid prospects back and get a decent replacement in Murphy

The Mets agree. The New York front office agrees to send a highly respected but long ways away spec in Sano with a platoon player in Murphy for Markakis. Nick is struggling now but being 7m a year is pretty cheap for what he can do and has done before. The Mets office was not high on Hicks or Simpson so the deal makes good sense for us. Young is an added bonus, as he could be a pretty cheap resign and you never know maybe he can pitch without getting hurt sometime.
Thanks Jeff for the easy negotiations.

Is Boston picking up 4m per year every year through 2014 or just in 2011?
-
The cash exchange is already with Markakis from prior deals

yea it is thru 2014 but is from prior deal another team

It's very confusing to me, because we don't indicate the amount or the team that is picking up the difference in salary per year, but I will leave that up to the TC. It's the accountant in me that wants everything spelled out nice and neatly.

White Sox are paying $4 million a year in 2011 2012 2013 2014 on OF Nick Markakis's salary :koolaid:
Now only if Kakis would decide that he wants to play and not embarrass himself like he has so far this year, then all will be well
-
He is no more Nick the stick, he is just Nick the stink... oh that's awful, but regardless of my poor joke, he is pretty terrible.

Approved. Markakis is an underrated OF in this scoring format, and scores well (besides a down season so far this year). Hicks has fallen hard on many prospect sheets, and Sano is highly projected but far away. Looks even to me.
