Title: Giants - Reds Waiver Trade 8/17/15 2:19A Eastern

Reds trade:
C Conger, Hank, $2m (2016)

Giants trade:
SP Santana, Ervin, $4m (2015)

After patiently waiting for Ervin Santana to serve his 50 game suspension, I was hoping he was going to return to his 2014 form.  But, he has had some very bad starts down the stretch and is no longer a player in the future plans of the the Giants.  With the Reds placing a waiver claim, the Giants have an opportunity to get a back-up C and save $2.0m in cap in the process.  The Reds, if they don't resign Santana, will also get some cap relief in 2016 by trading a player who has passed through waivers for a player on an expiring contract.

Both players have passed through waivers.
