Jake Odorizzi (P, MIL)

He's in the Brewers system, can I add him without bidding?

Unfortunately, you will have to bid on him.  :-\

Ben, do you still want to open a bid on him?

Brewers: $0.5M

(and I guess the 72-hour clock starts now, rather than anything based off the previous posts)

This bid is guaranteed to be open until Friday at 4:49 PM EST.  If you had posted this about 10 minutes later, it would have to wait until the weekend was over (or Sunday night).

You won the bid, but you will need to clear some cap space for Odorizzi.

Assuming I have correctly interpreted the Release Rule (can't afford to use the new Contract Buyout clause), we'll release Suppan.

Quote
- Any player dropped before the trade deadline still has part of his contract count against the cap in the following manner:  Current year: 90%, Next year: 60%, All future years after: 30%.
- If the player is dropped after the trade deadline, then the hit to the cap changes to 75%, 50%, 25%, respectively.
- The hit against the cap is rounded to the nearest $500,000.  Therefore, if it ends up being less than $250,000, the hit to the cap will be zero for that year.

Jeff Suppan - $10.5M, 2010, released after the trade deadline, cap hit is 75/50 for 2009/2010

2009: 10.5*0.75=7.875~8.0 (savings of 2.5M)
2010: 10.5*0.50=5.250~5.5 (savings of 5.0M)

Official roster will be updated in a second.. waiting on Fantrax to add Odorizzo and Strieby (still)
