Title: Rays/Cardinals Trade

The Cardinals and Rays agree to the following trade:  We trade a surplus of pitchers to acquire a backup CI/OF who we hope will soon receive more playing time (unless the DBacks call up Brandon Allen).  We hate to give up Bard but he was needed to balance out Blalock's salary.  Blalock to be released upon trade approval.
Cardinals trade:
RP Bard, Daniel, $2.5m (2012)
SP Pelfrey, Mike, $1m (2011)

Rays trade:
CI-OF Nady, Xavier, $2.5m (2011)
CI Blalock, Hank, $2.5m (2012)

Cardinals release upon trade approval:
CI Blalock, Hank, $2.5m (2012)
Waiver penalty $2.5m (2011), $1.5m (2012)

Rays approve

We needed to shed some payroll and add some arms, and this deal delivers on both counts.  Thanks for the easy talks Paul, always a pleasure  :toast:

I like what I see here, both teams fill a need.  The rays actually fill 2.
