Title: Reds Cubs deal again

Cubs get
P Gibson, Kyle, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Reds get

MI Figgins, Chone, $3m (2011)
+2.5 mil

Figgins fills the hole at MI, and will gain CI after 20 games, making him more valuable should injury strike. I have enough young arms in my system after trading Upton, so losing one out of them won't hurt, although he is prolly closest to the bigs out of the bunch. Cubbies set themselves up for a very nice staff come 2012. Cubs to confirm.

Cubs confirm. Figgins didn't fit into my long-term plans and even though I am woefully thin on offense I don't see how he was much of a difference maker in that regard. Gibson is added to the already deep group of young starting pitchers I have amassed since taking over the team a little over four months ago. I feel really good about my starting pitching depth going forward and I think it will allow me to begin to rebuild my offense in the very near future.
