To Minnesota
Erik Karlsson
Jarkko Ruutu

The Senators are happy with the deal as they pick up two big prospects in Gillies and Scandella, and pick up an expiring contract in Brunette. They had to give up a young defencemen in Karlsson but feel that Gilles and Scandella fit better with their team. They also give Minnesota some cap relief and an NHL defencemen they seek.

Minny to approve

Steep price to pay for Karlsson but a very good young dman that is NHL capable. Ruutu was thrown in so the cap worked on both sides. Had to move Gillies as he has dropped off the NHL map and isn't worth 1.5m at this point. My team is a win now team so moves have to be made to improve my team now which this trade does.  Been trying to move Brunette as I am very deep at LW and Latendresse is also set to return. Thanks Redlight for easy negotiations. :toast:

Scandella was promoted due to the trade; Contract P-2012, 200k per 55th overall selection in 2008
