Joakim Lindström, $1.2m (2014-2016)
Christian Thomas, $0.2m (2014-2016)

For

C - Johan Sundstrom (2011: 2/50 - 0 Games)

This is strictly a cost cutting measure for Colorado. Lindstrom was acquired via Free Agency when I was scrambling to get players. Now he's just dead cap space. As compensation I have included Thomas who is a decent prospect but again, does not fit my plans. Sundstrom is a token coming my way....the equivalent of paying a dollar to seal a transaction.

I view the deal as a win-win. I get $1.4m in cap space and Dallas, having missed out on free-agency,  gets to flesh out the roster a little better.

Dallas confirms.
Not much to see here. Two guys who may contribute at some point this season for one guy who may contribute at some point this season. With 11 open roster spots to fill without a ton of capspace to do it with, I need bodies and I need to b creative and roll the ddice a little. Not giving up alot here so worth the roll.

:iatp: giving the win to Avs for clearing cap and roster space. Thomas and Lindstrom might see some decent minutes this yr but it wont be big mins by any stretch of the imagination.

Smaller deal for fine tuning purposes. Young players changing addresses to get a fresh start with GMs that believe in them.

A clear Win for Colorado who cleared $1.4 Million in unproductive cap and freed two spots on their active roster to sign, acquire via trade or promote productive players. In addition, the Avalanche acquired a prospect that can mature in their MiLR until they are ready to contribute. There is a lot going on here in this seemingly small trade.
