Title: Avs/Leafs Deal
Post by: SlackJack on August 21, 2014, 11:11:54 PM
Jakob Silfverberg, $2.9m (2013-2016)
Drew Shore, $1.0m (2014-2016)

For

Jordan Staal, $5.0m (2013-2016)
D - Connor Murphy (2011: 1/20 - 30 Games)  GP updated July 1, 2014

Thanks to Thunderbird for a straight-up positional trade. Silfverberg is promising but I'm happy to acquire Staal. I need a Center and Silfy fits nicely on the Leafs roster with dual wing eligibility. Murphy/Shore is more of the same.

Toronto confirms this trade. We acquire tons of potential, save on salary and balance out my lineup. Really like Jordan but he has stalled (no pun intended) offensively. Murphy is a up and comer but to get, you have to give. Thanks Slackjack for the deal.

A good trade for both however I prefer the players going to the Leafs.

I thought I was the only FNHLer up at night.

Two teams making a deal to fill needs. I'll give the slight edge to Toronto, but if Carolina is a better team this year, then Staal could be a very nice pickup

Was that a new nickname for Thunderblade, "Thunderbird"?   :P

:iatp:
Looks good for both teams. New owners = new opportunities for player movement.
Jake is a good young player who might or might not lose playing time with Dany Heatley's arrival. Jordan may or may not see a boost in production under a new head coach. Lots of good risk/reward going on in this deal.

:iatp: Win to Avs for getting the better player, clearing amother spot for more FA signings or deals.

 :iatp: I'll give the edge to Toronto for getting the extra roster player and shaving a bit off their cap total.

Can't wait to see the Avs in action with all their moves this offseason. I'm liking those 2 guys headed to the Buds. Shore could have a bounce back yr.
