Title: LAD/OAK Trade (Redo)
Post by: MillerTime on August 18, 2014, 07:24:56 PM
CI Caratini, Victor, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI McMahon, Ryan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Baltz, Jeremy, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Franchy Cordero $0.5m (P-n/a)
for
MI Ramirez, Hanley, $11.5m (2014) + $11M 2014

All in for this year, Hanley is pretty good value for future as well.  Give up two top prospects in McMahon and Caratini, Baltz can hit and get on base as well.

Rick to confirm.

I may regret this but I have some nice MI prospects, Mercer is on a roll and (hoping) Guerrero gets called up in a week or so.
Caratini and McMahon are Scouting Book Top 20 at their positions which are positions of need in my system.
Thanks for the negotiations Bob, it was a barn burner but a whole lot of fun!

This one is real close for me.  I think some better specs could have been had for Hanley.  But being that he is a DL machine and is always hurt I will approve.   :iatp:

I think Hanley is worth more than the prospects he's being traded for, but, as papps noted, his constant visits to the DL hurt his value.  I've looked at this trade over and over, weighing both sides, and although I don't necessarily agree with it, it's not something I can veto.

So..... :iatp:

MI is the hardest position in the league to acquire and better specs should be used to acquire a top tier MI

I agree that there needs to be better players for Hanley even though he is on DL a lot,he is a way better player and deserves better players given.

Just so I have this straight.
I keep Hanram @$10m/yr and hope to get 100 games from him OR
Release him and , at best, get a 1st round pick next year.
That's better than 2 Top 20 prospects and a former 2nd round draft choice?

Confirmed new trade, added very young MI, who is sneaking onto many top spec lists.  Caratini at C, Cordero at MI, McMahon at CI, and Baltz at Of, all having very good years (Baltz just ok).  McMahon is one of the 2014 breakout specs, Caratini is double machine with good eye, Cordero is probably next big MI spec like Mondesi last year.

For injury prone MI that is a former star, now hitting declining years at $10m per year resign.  Don't get me wrong Hanley is good, just not great.

Before things start to get too confusing (for a man like me, in his declining years :disco:), I think you should start a new thread with the new deal you are proposing.  That way it can be voted on as if it was a new trade--which it is.
