The super cool general managers of the Sabres and Isles have agreed upon the following trade:
To :NYI:
Thomas Vanek, $6.2m (2013-2017) LW & RW eligible
Round 3 - 2014 :BUF-NHL3:
To :BUF-NHL3:
Torey Krug, $0.2m (2012-2014) ... 5.9m (2014-2018)
David Booth, $0.5m (2013-2014) ... 0.9m (2014-2016)
Really wanted to see Krug leave, and Vanek is a great return for him.
Booth I decided to extend on a very last day of his contract, and I believe to be able to get the same points from FA pool with a cheaper price.
All in all a good trade, both teams get to fill the holes in their rosters, I would say :toast:

We're getting younger and filling one of many holes on our blueline in Buffalo. We figured we would start adding D before FA starts. :thumbsup: Hoping little man Krug continues to develop (maybe grow an inch or 7) and get more playing time otherwise he's getting overpaid.
Funny how Vanek is landing on Long Island in FNHL. Johnny pulled a Garth Snow. :rofl: Vanek will be missed.

Good deal for both teams. NYI gets a sure thing with Vanek. Sabres getting similar sized cap hit back and paying a lot for potential since Krug only has 1yr under his belt.

I give the win to NYI for sure. Still works for both teams and Krug should develop quite nicely.

Definitely prefer Vanek > Krug. In Vanek i feel you have less questions and proven ability. That said Krug is full of untapped potential, and GMs can hit homeruns on potential.
I swing for the fences sometimes on Potential & Gut feelings. :thumbsup:

The Booth extension is 0.8m not 0.9m not that it makes much of a diff.
Krug is like Martin St.Louis on D quick, shifty, skilled and feisty. Anyone who's seen him in the playoffs knows he'll get that kind of cash sooner than later. Probably could've paid less but good deal for the teams overall.
