Title: Nats/A's Deal
Post by: Needle Juice on February 02, 2011, 04:02:49 PM
The Nationals and A's have agreed to the following deal:

A's receive:
CI Davis, Ike, $0.5m (P-2013)
OF Joyce, Matt, $0.5m (P-2011)
P Tejeda, Robinson, $2m (2012)

Nationals Receive:
P Lyles, Jordan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Revere, Ben, $0.5m (P-n/a)
C Sanchez, Gary, $0.5m (P-n/a)

I give up three top 100 prospects, two very close to the majors.  Sanchez might have the best ceiling of them all.  Adding these three to a very good young Nationals roster, makes the Nats a strong future contender.

I receive a guy, I really like in Davis.  Good Power, good eye, and will be the Mets 1B for a while.  I also get a good sleeper in Joyce, similar skillset with Power and good eye.  Between Manny and Damon being old and SeanRod maybe not quite winning the job, I still like his PT chances.  I take on Tejeda, hopefully he will continue to be serviceable.

Overall, this improves my team in the next few years while I have most of my Core group under contract.  I like having ARAM, Smoak, Kila, and Ike Davis to fill three spots.  This allows for injuries and possible struggles.

Jake, always a pleasure.  Thanks for the deal, please confirm when you have the opportunity.

Nationals confirm.  Between Davis, Richard, Headley, and Ramirez, I wasn't wanting to re-sign/extend them all.  Davis is probably the most talented of that group, but I feel I received a great return.  Lyles becomes my future ace (Houston believes in him, so I might as well) and Revere hopefully gets a shot at starting sometime this season.  Sanchez is probably the real prize, though I'm not sure what to do with him with Posey in the way, but that seems like a silly complaint that's a couple years away.

Thanks for the easy talks Rob, good dealing. :koolaid:

Jake I think you could have done better, but it is a relatively fair deal
