Title: Bay Area Deal
Post by: MillerTime on December 23, 2010, 12:36:38 PM
The SF Giants and Oakland A's have agreed to the following deal:

Oakland to receive:
CI Sandoval, Pablo, $0.5m (P-2012)

SF to receive:
CI-OF Jones, Garrett, $0.5m (P-2012)
P Sanabia, Alejandro, $0.5m (2012)
P Ceda, Jose, $0.5m (P-n/a)

I believe in a bounceback for the Kung Fu Panda.  This guy is always a high average guy with some power.  He had alot of pressure put on him last year as the Face of the Giants at the beginning of the season.  Also went through an ugly divorce and gained a ton of weight.  I like the wildcard of having of another player getting injured and Pablo regaining C elgibility, while unlikely it is intriguing.  He will fit right into my UTIL spot.

I give up a platoon OF and young SP with ok stuff, but not exceptional.  Sanabia's garunteed contract is limiting with FA coming up as well.  Ceda is a toss in, he is a young RP, but I was probably going to drop him during RP.

Nice dealing with you Ernesto, confirm when you have the opportunity.

Thanks

I am going to have to think on this one. I too believe ole panda bear will bounce back this season. In fact, I asked about him a day or two ago but I guess he wasn't on the block then.

I believe both jones and Sandoval have shown to be good players but neither are established. Sandoval I believe has higher upside and I think 2 younger players with jones equal it out enough if that is who giants feels makes it equal.

:iatp: Remember Jones also has OF eligibility which makes him a flexible play and that Big Panda was actually benched throughout the playoffs. I would say the trade is pretty even.

Personally I would rather have the upside of fatso Panda, as opposed to a platoon bat (confirmed by Pirates GM), a 6th starter, and a minor league pen arm, but Panda could just turn out to have peaked in 2009, and be completely useless going forward. How the mighty have fallen.
