The Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies are pleased to announce the following deal.
Chicago trades:
SP Halladay, Roy, $23m (2015)
P Melancon, Mark, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Rios, Alex, $10.5m (2014)
X-OF Rios, Alex, Cash Exchange on Contract, $3m in 2012, $5m in 2011
in addition, the Cubs will be paying $3m of Rios' deal in 2013, and 2014
to Philly for:
P Happ, J.A., $0.5m (P-2012)
SP Verlander, Justin, $18m (2014)
OF Victorino, Shane, $10.5m (2011)
Cubs receive two SP's to strengthen their rotation, and add Victorino to their OF for 2011.
