"FA Bidding
Bids are in format of total contract value. Note that the number of years does not need to be listed until the bid is won.  The resulting salary will be the final bid divided by number of years, rounded to the nearest $500k. The winning bid will be the highest total contract amount.  If the bid is less than $20m then contract can be valued in multiples of $500k.  If it is $20m or more then it must be in multiples of $1m.  Players who are eligible for a prospect contract can have the bid (less $500k) turned into a guaranteed signing bonus.  Note that signing bonuses are 100% guaranteed and stay on the issuing team's books, regardless if that player is later traded."
You can go with $1.5M for a year or 2 yrs/$1M ea

And of course, FGM has non-standard rules.

Actually, FGM set the standard at $500K increments before the other leagues existed. The rules were written in 2009.

That's one way of looking at it.  The other way is FGM is based off of many legacy rules which new leagues have moved on from.  I'm sure there was a reason to have the 500K increment contracts and I'd be willing to be that reason is not the case now.

This is another rule that needs to be put up for review/change.

You're preaching to the choir about a review of the rules. Personally, I don't see that it is necessary to change this one but if it comes up...
