Title: Flames and Senators deal Defense and Centers
Post by: jackdaniels on February 12, 2014, 11:47:34 PM
Flames continue to turn over the old roster to breathe some life into a franchise with a real shot at making the post-season after wallowing in the sludge of failure for the past 2yrs!

To Ottawa
Jay Bouwmeester, $3.9m (2013-2016)
James Sheppard, $0.2m (2013-2015)
D - Adam Clendening (2011: 2/36 - 0 Games)

To Calgary
Nick Leddy, $2.5m (2012-2015)
Matt Hendricks, $1.5m (2013-2016)
C - Ryan Strome (2011: 1/5 - 15 Games)

Sens came poking around asking about Jay Bouwmeester and we told them the price was a defenseman to replace him and a highend prospect. Good deal for my club and Hendricks is playing well for the Oilers. Bouwmeester is good but Leddy is younger and puts up similar points with a lighter contract. Strome is going to be a beast when he's fulltime with the Islanders. I really like this trade for my Flames. We're getting younger too!

Sens to confirm. Thanks DD!  :toast:

Ottawa management agree to this trade with Calgary. We think Jay will be more consistent on the backend for us and though he's older by almost a decade he has a history of delivering fantasy points.

We feel we paid a little more than we had to by dealing Strome but we are very happy with the package we are acquiring from the Flames.

We hope this trade works out for both teams. Thanks Jack! :toast:

Its a good deal by both teams. Calgary definitely comes out ahead by getting 2 great young players.

:iatp: i will give the edge to :CLG: for landing the higher end prospect and getting more point production in the trade. however if we gave the win to the team getting the best player :OTT: would come out ahead.

MiLR players Clendening and Strome moved back to Minors post trade on fntx which pushes Minor leaguers to the Reserve position during the processing of a trade.

Flames are excited to add Ryan Strome. MacKinnon, Kreider and Bernier are also very happy about this deal.

Bouwmeester is playing for a strong contender in St.Louis and his should continue to post strong numbers. Sheppard is an inexpensive forward. Ottawa likes the package for our Cup run. :champ:
