The Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed the trade as follows

Phillies send

1B/RF/LF Darin Ruf $400,000 (2014) ARB (2015-2019)
2014 4th Round Draft Pick
$400,000 Cash

To the Rays for

P Victor Sanchez (minors)

The Phillies do this move to pick up some more pitching depth for the minors.  Sanchez has the potential to move quickly due to the control of his all of his pitches.  Ruf doesn't fit my long term plans as he will turn 28 mid season and I expect him to hold a bench role from here on out.  Thanks to Andy for another quick but tough negotiation.  Rays to confirm.

Rays confirm....Looking to fill the RF slot with someone that has at least a shot to get some at bats.  I feel that getting the 4th round pick next year and salary relief for this year make it worth giving up a pitching prospect like Sanchez.
