I do this trade for a shake up. OReilly is real nice player but with the price tag up comming Im not sure he is going to get the ice time to justify to salary. The other players are all for cap reasons and most are cheap buy outs..

Sharks make this deal because we're not blowing the competition away with Alex Pietrangelo in the lineup so if we can shake things up in San Jose as well while the hell not, right?
I like O'Reilly and this package is about adding a Center to continue building our franchise around. The other guys are buyouts though Weiss is on the bubble at the moment. We'll see. Tough losing Nick Petan and a 2nd as well but it's a fair price to land a guy we think can grow with our team and we gain a bit of cap space which is always nice in this league.

Stars are another team shaking up their roster. HF6K is another long time savvy owner... interesting to see what other moves he's got planned.
I think :DAL-NHL: gets a great package but then again :SJ: gets a very good young player.
Overall I give the edge to :DAL-NHL: for getting the better overall package to help his club.

Surprisingly even but I'll give the Win to Dallas for cleaning up their roster a little while trading for a franchise defenseman. Good trade overall.

I agree that its a good deal for both sides, but I give the edge to Dallas. Weiss hasn't done anything this year and then got hurt. I was so mad when Detroit signed him for that stupid contract when we had other options or could have looked to our farm team! :soapbox: anyways...sorry for the rant. Good trade you two.

:iatp: I got to go with what Pigs, Izaman and Dickie said, edge to Dallas for dumping guys who should be bought out especially that Weiss contract. :rofl: O'Reilly and the late picks aren't bad for SJ but Stars got the better bag of goods.

Hmmmm, guess I'll go against everyone and say :SJ: won this trade by unloading a big contract. Of course it's only a small margin of victory. LOL
Weiss still "plays" for the Wings (when he's not hurt LOL) and as long as he's a member of the Wings he has value for SJ. The others are cheap B/O candidates. I don't think O'Reilly's ext is earthshattering so that's a plus for the Sharks too.
