Title: Trade: Blue Jays / Brewers

The Blue Jays and Brewers have reached agreement on a deal:

Brewers receive:
Matt Kemp, $24.5M, 2017
Travis d'Arnaud, $400K, 2019
$4M cash annually thru 2017

Blue Jays receive:
Garrett Jones, $4.5M, 2015
Eric Young, Jr., $492K, 2015
Jonathan LuCroy, $750K, 2016
Lucas Sims, minors

Blue Jays make this deal for many reasons. I shed the long-term deal for Kemp and gain a ton of cap flexibility.  I deal away two players with a checkered injury history and gain three steady players that will help this season along with one of my favorite pitching prospects. It is tough to deal d'Arnaud, but I love LuCroy and his very team-friendly deal.

Brewers confirm:

taking on a lot of salary, but cap space is about the only thing I do have in any abundance.  missed out on votto sweepstakes, but if he went for $32M I don't mind paying $20M for Kemp.  Even if he does not return to MVP form I am willing to gamble on his health to aquire a big bat.  D'Arnaud is another health issue, but his injuries have been more flukey that nagging, recurring types.  I believe he will begin to fulfill his enormous potential this yr. 

as for what I am giving up, while the petis coveted lucroy, I likewise coveted d'arnaud.  as for Sims, I never like giving up a good young power arm, but gotta give up something to get something.  as for the others, solid depth players, but no one worth declining top talent for.

 :iatp: This could really turn out to be a steal for the Brewers as they get Kemp for effectively $16M the next 2 season if you include dumping the Jones salary.  Kemp could also turn out to be an anchor.  Lucroy is a great get for the Blue Jays.  A lot of risk and reward for both teams
