The two Chicago franchises are pleased to announce the following trade:
Cubs trade
SP Bannister, Brian, $1m (2011)
P Outman, Josh, $0.5m (P-2012)
CI Morris, Hunter, $0.5m (P-n/a), signed 9/22/10
to White Sox for
P Dickey, R.A., $5m (2012) + $2m in 2011
MI Theriot, Ryan, $3.5m (2012)
Cubs continue to add pitching depth and add a MI to a depleted offensive roster. Sox to confirm.

Is Hunter Morris allowed to be traded? Just checking, I believe the 60 days up and that allows the move, just making sure.
-
Yes he is, I verified it with Colby before the deal was posted.

Apologizes to all for the delay in confirmation. Holidays start early here and I've been swamped today.
The White Sox gladly confirm this deal-
1.) J.Outman seems to be fine and on his way to reaching his potential
2.) I'll take a flyer on Bannister in free agency; a change in scenery or pitching coach often does a player a world of good.
3.) I've traded most of my CI prospects and need to restock. As an SEC guy I like that Morris led the conference in HRs. I actually wanted to draft him this fall. Mike beat me to the punch by taking him in the 1st Rd.
Theriot (LSU,SEC) is tough to lose as a viable backup but I feel like I can replace him in FA. Besides, I think I save a few bucks for FA
