Title: Nationals/Cubs Trade
Post by: lp815 on November 13, 2010, 06:19:51 PM
The Nationals and Cubs have agreed to the following:

Nationals receive:
OF Cunningham, Aaron, $0.5m (P-2013)
OF Murphy, David, $2.5m (2012)
MI Figgins, Chone, $3m (2011),
P Brackman, Andrew, $1m (P-n/a)
P Colome, Alex, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Jones, Daryl, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Cubs receive:
OF Scott, Luke, $9m (2010)
P Strasburg, Stephen, $0.5m (P-2013)
CI Glaus, Troy, $2m (2012)

The Nationals tie up their loose ends in receiving depth at OF, two quality pitching prospects, and a second MI.  Hopefully Strasburg does better things for the Cubs in the future than the disappointing year he had for the Nationals.  Cubbies to confirm, thanks again Kris, and good luck with Lovable Losers.  You've made a lot of progress on the team in only a few short days.

Happy to bring in another high-upside arm to the mix, along with a quality OF bat that I was in desperate need of. Thanks to Jake for working with me on this, and I think we both got what we wanted out of the deal.

Cubs confirm.

This trade is hard to judge and I must admit that I have had my doubts on Stras health for a while, but the ability is lights out.  That is an awful lot in return for two aging part time players and Stras.  I figured someone would pay a large amount for Stras, so I will approve, but call it a marginal approval.
