The Pirates trade Johnny Cueto to the Rays for Nick Castellanos and $750k international money.  Rays to confirm.

Pirates make the deal to acquire a hitter I really like and shed the future salary commitment of Cueto.  Adding Castellanos to Yelich and Polanco gives me a formidable trio of young hitting prospects that hopefully will be able to give me a solid, productive young core for a long time.  The international money adds another chip to my stack for free agency.  Happy with the deal.  Thanks to the Rays for a smooth negotiation.

The Rays agree to this deal in an effort to lock up a top of the rotation starter and put the best team possible on the field for 2014.  It was a pleasure dealing with the Pirates on this.
