Houston agrees to this deal as Johnson is not needed as we have Plouffe and Youkilis to man 3rd and LoMo, Smoak, and Wallace to fill in at 1st but need a nice MI and who is nicer than HanRam!  Only signed for one year so hopefully we make a run next season in the AL.  Danks needed to be moved in order to accommodate the high salary.  Thompson is a nice young arm but with the picks hopefully I can find a diamond in the rough.

Detroit makes this deal for a number of reasons.

Hanley is obviously very talented but I have another big league option at SS (with a contract that is difficult to deal) and at least one other strong option in the minors that will be ready soon. I also suspect that Hanley may be plagued with injury issues for a while.

I have a need for a 3B and could use more depth at SP. I also think Jake Thompson will end up being a strong number 2 SP in a few seasons.

It's tough to give up picks and cash but the international cash helps ease that loss.

Change my vote. Not enough value going back for HanRam. Wallace is marginal at best. HanRam is the best SS in this league. Plus you get bach 6m cash & draft picks?

Sorry. Not enough value there.

If the trade goes through, please assign Jake Thompson to Short Season-A Connecticut.
