The Blue Jays front office was desperately trying to acquire a C, since it hurt the team so much in the playoffs to have that gaping hole at the position. A deal finally presented itself that suited the team. We had a 6-man rotation, which made Volquez expendable and while we are terribly sad to see Phillips go, there are more MI's in the market than C's. Lopez provides valuable depth and we hope Lucas Duda will provide some depth as well in the future. Thanks for the fast negotiations Colorado.
